Ultimate Prayer

“Ultimate prayer is not talking to God.  Ultimate prayer is ‘I am here…’ listening, open.”    Our Friends

Prayer is like water, beloved.  It is the fluid and salve of life.  It is as invisible as air, yet you must have it as surely as you need oxygen to breathe.  It is the space between your cells, because it is your communion with Creation.  This is true even for those who do not believe in anything but their senses and mortal life.  Everyone prays; you have many ways of doing so.

Prayer is many things.  Prayer is a story you tell yourself: about what you believe, who you are, what you fear and what you wish for — which is, more often than you realize, the same thing.  Prayer is surrender, because it is asking for help from that which you feel but cannot see, know but cannot prove; prayer is trust beyond your perception and understanding, which is faith.

Indeed there are “good” ways to pray and not so good ways to pray, but all prayer counts.  All prayer tells the eternal what you believe about yourself, and what you really want.  It reveals your priorities and values.  It reveals your awareness of what you are and what you believe you are capable of.  It reveals to what extent you understand yourself as part of Creation, as a sunbeam of the sun.  It illuminates whether you understand yourself to be embodied or incarnating — an essential distinction: the one is trapped and stuck, the other free and evolving.

Prayer reveals whether you wish to get through your life or to fulfill your life. It reveals what you believe fulfillment would look like.

Your prayers tell Creation who you believe yourself to be; and because you are sovereign beings, your prayers are answered according to your beliefs.

This does not mean your prayers will be answered as you imagine they should, according to your understanding of your beliefs.  What you think you believe is often not at all accurate.  Your ego, your intellect, tells you what to think you believe.  Your actions, unguarded thoughts, feelings, musings, and imaginings speak more to what and how you truly believe…of yourself and of the world.

You are out of control; the only control you have is through surrender.  Prayer guides you to surrender, brings you into communion with Creation.

Surrender and control are more than just two sides of the same coin; they are, in fact, one.  Perfect surrender brings perfect control.  Yet, in the evolvement that leads to true surrender, all the precepts and beliefs you have created about this world, your culture, your place and purpose in this world, will change, because in truth you do not understand anything.

Until you become willing to learn, until you truly surrender, until you listen instead of talk, you will fear and you will feel out of control.  Ultimate prayer is not talking to God.  Ultimate prayer is “I am here…” listening, open.                    Our Friends

Honoring Your Sovereignty

Stephanie writes:

I am struck, when sharing Our Friends, by how different people relate to them.

Though I do not remember the information of each session, I retain an experience (at least for a short time) of the feeling of the session.  And I retain any insight I may have gained during the session…generally having little to do with the content of your session.

Our Friends are always consistent.  They are more consistent in who they are than any human I have ever met.  By this I mean, they honor themselves and others with a consistency of presence and being that I have never experienced in a human.

Yet people experience them very differently, and I am graced to witness how that works.

Our Friends often talk about honoring sovereignty; we are each a sovereign Being.  This honoring is why Our Friends are so safe.  To dishonor another is to change oneself.  Being so utterly clear “who” they are, Our Friends choose with equal clarity to remain themselves with every movement of their Being.  This is at the heart of people’s experience.

For one whose heart is very open, Our Friends are able to pour forth such love that it brings tears.  For one whose heart is protected, they will brush their love like a feather over sunburn.  They will give as an individual’s energy and Being are able to receive.  Always all their Being is behind all they give.  No less is offered to one whose heart is protected, but the feel of its giving — as experienced by me — is very different.

If someone is very intellectual the same is true.  Our Friends are no different in their being, and all their love is still there, but they will honor the needs and boundaries of the person before them.  They will speak to him in a way that allows him to hear, receive, and open a little bit more than he had before.

They have often spoken of listening to our energy, which is different from listening to our words or thoughts.  It is not uncommon that what we think is not what our energy, our deepest Being, asks, needs, “thinks.”  Our Friends balance the awareness, or lack thereof, of the conscious mind with the need and call of your energy, your soul, your essence.

They work with who you are, always honoring you because you are a sovereign Being.  They will work with the tiniest crack in the door, a crack asking for help, guidance, support…a crack and an asking you may — or may not — be aware of; they will let you decide how much you let in.

Our Friends: A Journey of Communion

“In this world, no one is going to see you perfectly.  Yet, you can be perfectly you.  In loyalty to your own Essence lies freedom, peace, and a profound joy.  In your body center, through your breath, inviting your soft heart to open, You emerge into a living world.”    Our Friends
